The Directorate of Press and Public Affairs Government house has announced the decision of the Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to formally join the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant development in the state’s political landscape.

In a resignation letter dated December 29, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward, Mangu Local Government Area, the Governor cited the need for clarity of direction, purposeful leadership, and effective service delivery as the basis for his decision. He expressed appreciation to the PDP for the opportunity it provided him to serve and acknowledged the loyalty and support of party members over the years.

Governor Mutfwang described his move to the APC as a strategic step taken in the overriding interest of Plateau State. According to him, aligning the state more closely with the policies and programmes of the Federal Government would enhance development efforts, accelerate economic growth, and ensure the delivery of greater dividends of democracy to the people.

The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, unity, and sustainable development across Plateau State, emphasizing that overcoming divisions remains essential for collective progress.

The formal registration and presentation of the APC membership card to Governor Mutfwang is scheduled to take place on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Victoria Gowon Hall, Government House, Rayfield, Jos. Following the ceremony, the Governor will proceed to the APC State Secretariat at Kalwa House to engage with party leaders and members.

The event is expected to attract party stakeholders, political leaders, supporters, and well-wishers from across the state.
