The Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang on Monday, joined his colleague-Governors at the meeting of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, held alongside the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council, in Kaduna
The meeting deliberated extensively on issues of shared concern with far-reaching implications for the region and the nation at large.
Governor Mutfwang in a statement commended all members and revered Royal Fathers for their steadfast commitment to unity, security, stability, and development.
He affirmed that only through collective resolve, peer review, and sustained collaboration can they confront the challenges facing Northern Nigeria.
The governor reiterated their determination to tackle prevailing security threats with firmness, clarity, and full adherence to their individual and collective constitutional responsibilities.
He also extended his heartfelt condolences and solidarity to the governments and people of Kebbi, Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Sokoto, Jigawa, and Kano States over the tragic killings and abductions of schoolchildren and other innocent citizens.
Furthermore, Governor Mutfwang expressed strong support for the establishment of State Police and called on members of the National and State Assemblies from the region to fast-track the necessary legislation.
Additionally, the meeting agreed to establish a Regional Security Trust Fund, to be financed through monthly contributions of one million naira from each state and local governments, to be deducted at source under an agreed framework.
