Plateau citizens have shown incredible resilience, maturity, and a joint desire to not only move the state forward, but to move it forward TOGETHER. This time, Plateau people have gracefully embraced peace over the staggering walls of political divisions. The people have sent a clear and powerful signal: unity is our strength, and politics must serve as a link for progress, not a barrier that divides.
As a result, Plateau State is surely reclaiming it’s place as one of Nigeria’s most vibrant tourism destinations, driven by deliberate government action, continued peace efforts, with a clear vision to lead and not to lag in culture, unity, and economic revival.
In recent months, our beloved state has demonstrated that tourism is no longer an afterthought or something we expect to be a natural attribution. Intentional attention is a strategic pillar for growth, identity, and social cohesion which the state government and its people have become and epitome of.
Kudos has to be given to the ongoing administration for its intentional commitment to peace as the foundation for tourism, why?, because just us we would all love to see, Plateau State is now consciously projecting a new narrative. Safety, hospitality, and a common heritage. Our own message is clear, and it has resonated strongly as the waves on the sea; the state has rolled out and continues to roll out what many now consider the most coordinated and inclusive festive-season events nationwide, setting a new standard or what some might cheekily refer to as “marking scheme” as the new year approaches.
The Unity Christmas Carols series stands out as a defining symbol of this progress. From the Plateau Unity Christmas Carols to the Tarok, Ngas, and Berom Unity Christmas Carols, these events celebrated our rich cultural diversity of the state while reinforcing a not just powerful, but crucial message of togetherness. That Plateau State is one. Though the aforementioned are rooted in specific ethnic identities, they were deliberately madr open and inclusive, welcoming all Plateaunians and visitors alike to come, celebrate, and share in the joy of the beautiful season.
This so much mentioned revival haven’t just been stretched to accomodate tourism, but tangible steps have been taken to stimulate economic activity through tourism and it’s enterprise. Events such as the Jos Business Women Fair, the SLOGA/VOBA Trade Fair, and the Jos Business Conference have provided platforms for entrepreneurs, creatives, and investors to connect, showcase ideas, and contribute to the Plateau economy.
Plateau is rising, and this is only just the beginning
